This page lists both prescription schemes for writing as well as general approaches to teaching writing at primary level. We also list schemes of work for other parts of the English Curriculum, including reading, spelling, comprehension and grammar. We also have a page for separate primary writing assessment tools.

Written by teachers, for teachers, Literacy Tree has complete coverage of all National Curriculum expectations for writing composition, grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary, and reading comprehension. The plans for writing (Writing Roots) guide teachers through using a text starting with discovery points that lead to purposeful writing opportunities with a range of genres. The Literary Leaves teach Reading Comprehension and are written for Y2-Y6.

All members have access to the hundreds of work samples that appear on the site.
Curriculum maps, progression and coverage documents and overviews are included.
All plans are written with a consistent and cohesive approach that is used across a school from Reception to Y6 transition.
Resources included for Writing, Reading Comprehension and Spelling all link together under literary themes to support deepening knowledge around quality texts.
English Subject knowledge for teachers is embedded within resources. Examples of modelled writing and questioning as well as how to use grammar is detailed at the point of application.
All teachers have access to Toolkits (Classroom and Subject Leader) which include editable documents such as coverage maps and progression documents.

Our INSET and consultancy supports teachers to adopt and adapt the Teach Through a Text approach and embed the Literary Tree at their schools. School members have access to a free termly subject leader meeting and free half-termly planning surgeries with a consultant as part of their membership.
Cost
Become an individual member for £3.99 a month to receive a token to use for any resource. The whole school membership is dependent on school size. A one form entry school (up to 10 users) is £595 plus vat for access to everything. Schools smaller than this can contact us directly for a discount.

The Literacy Company
